JUNGLE TREKKING YAXHA & TOPOXTE FULL DAY
WHAT IT IS:
This tour is for those who want to immerse themselves in the jungle all day. It includes an archaeological tour of Topoxté and Yaxhá, along with a jungle hike featuring a plant-focused tour led by our local guide, who has over 40 years of experience protecting the Maya Biosphere Reserve (MBR).
The tour begins at Sombrero Ecolodge, where our private boat will take us to Topoxté for the archaeological tour, and then drop us off at the far end of Yaxhá Lagoon to start the hike.
There are two hiking options: a 5km or 2.5km trek through the jungle, allowing participants to fully enjoy being immersed in nature. Upon reaching Yaxhá, a picnic lunch will be served, followed by time to relax, and then the archaeological tour of Yaxhá and the sunset from the ruins before returning.
This tour is perfect for those who want to experience the MBR while enjoying an archaeological journey. For me, it feels like a pilgrimage—exposing you to the wild, pulling you out of your comfort zone, and immersing you in the heat and solitude of the jungle.
It invites you to surrender, connect with the present moment, and arrive at a stunning destination where you can simply be, feel, and exist.
This is my favourite tour! It is designed for adventurous people who appreciate the jungle, seek unique experiences, and value attention to detail.

OPTIONS:
Choose between the normal tour OR Extra Jungle Trekking without visiting Topoxté. I offer the option to do only an extended jungle hike in the same area, between 4km and 16km depending on how extreme you wish to go! A great choice for adventurous souls, we will still visit intermediate archaeological sites such as Naya and Pochitoka, and finish with a sunset tour at the main site.

9:30 Start of the tour with boat
10:00 Arrival to Topoxté, archaeological tour to the ceremonial site
11:00 Boat takes us to the end of the lagoon to start our jungle trekking
11:00 - 14:30 Trekking in the jungle towards Yaxhá
14:30 Arrival to Yaxhá with picnic lunch at Plaza Mahler
